Thesis, a pioneering venture studio focused on building Bitcoin-centric brands, today announced the appointment of Kathy Zhu as head of Asia-Pacific (APAC) growth.

With a proven track record in scaling early-stage companies, Zhu will be instrumental in driving Thesis’ expansion into the dynamic APAC market. Her deep understanding of the region’s unique landscape and her ability to foster strategic partnerships will be crucial in building a thriving ecosystem of Bitcoin-based businesses, Thesis said in an announcement on Wednesday.

Zhu joins the company from Old Fashioned Research, a multi-strategy blockchain investment fund focusing on Web3, where she was its principal. Prior, she spent over three years at Binance, as global growth and operations lead for its P2P business, and was also part of the exchange's global PR team.

Thesis has been at the forefront of building disruptive Bitcoin businesses, with a portfolio that includes Mezo, the first Bitcoin Layer-2, and Acre, a BTC-in-BTC-out staking platform. Zhu’s appointment comes at a pivotal time as Thesis seeks to expand its reach and impact in the region.

“APAC is a high priority market in our global expansion, especially with our recent launch of Mezo, the first Bitcoin L2, and Acre, the BTC-in-BTC-out staking platform. Kathy will contribute valuably with her entrepreneurship and investment experiences as she drives the partnerships to develop disruptive companies that bring global economies and build new ones on-chain,” Brian Mahoney, vice president of business development at Thesis, said.
