On 23rd July 2024, Elixir posted a mysterious video with cash flying around ending with "coming soon" which excited many users. With mainnet scheduled on 15th August, could we expect ELX token sometime soon?
Firstly, what is Elixir? Elixir introduces liquidity to order book DEXs by acting as an infrastructure for exchanges to bootstrap liquidity to their books. Users can add liquidity by simply depositing assets in Elixir and choosing a trading pair on any of the 30+ native DEXs.
By depositing through Elixir's native integrations, users can earn rewards given by the exchange too. At the time of writing, the majority of order book liquidity is provided to Bluefin, Vertex, RabbitX and Orderly of which both Bluefin and Orderly do not have a token.
According to Elixir, an ELX will be launched but the timing is unclear. The governance token for the ecosystem and holders will be able to decide how fees are distributed post-mainnet.
Irregardless of when ELX is launched, it will be interesting to see how Elixir will continue to provide liquidity through its infrastructure.
"ELX is the future native utility and governance token of the Elixir ecosystem, powering consensus and allowing for holders to direct the future of the network," Elixir explained.
"With the eventual launch of mainnet, Elixir will fully decentralize. While this includes a fully decentralized network, it also includes community-led governance run by the ELX holders."
Users on X speculate that it could be an allocation checker or an eligibility list. However, it could also be a new exciting integration announcement, not necessarily news regarding ELX.
X user @Eagledrop69 said "I can't wait for Elixir, I was in exile but I had to come back for this. I have full trust in Elixir team to deliver at the end of this month." while @Arbitrum replied to the post saying "Elixir"
