The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has announced the return of the Singapore FinTech Festival (SFF) for its 9th edition.

Taking place from November 6–8, 2024, with the Insights Forum preceding it on November 4–5, SFF 2024 promises to be a landmark event exploring the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Quantum Computing in shaping the future of finance.

The focus will be on harnessing the power of cutting-edge technologies to drive sustainable and inclusive economic growth within the financial sector, MAS said, citing a McKinsey report that global public investments in quantum technology reached $42 billion in 2023.

"Harmonising global FinTech regulations that support innovation, fostering cross-border collaboration on payments and credit, and ensuring a secure, inclusive, and sustainable financial ecosystem powered by responsible adoption of AI and Quantum Technologies will be the primary focus of SFF 2024,"

AI and Quantum Computing Take Center Stage

A key theme of SFF 2024 will be the exploration of AI and quantum computing's potential to revolutionize financial services. SFF 2024 will also highlight the role of FinTech in driving sustainable finance initiatives. Attendees can expect discussions on how financial technologies can be used to promote environmentally conscious practices and support a greener future, the announcement said.

Preceding the main event, the invitation-only Insights Forum will bring together 1,500 senior policymakers, industry executives, and investors. This forum aims to foster collaboration and leadership dialogues as stakeholders work towards aligning their views on the conditions needed to harness the power of AI, quantum computing, and other emerging technologies within the financial sector.

Blockchain Guardians Programme

At the same time, MAS announced the Blockchain Guardians Programme that will commence on 2 September. Launched by Elevandi Education, the 10-week long skills-based learning initiative aims to address the talent gap in the digital assets and blockchain space.

The programme, co-curated by web3 and digital assets industry stakeholders, includes an online course, mentorship, and industry immersion. It will culminate in a ceremony for 30 graduating students, who will receive digital certificates, at the SFF Talent Zone.
