The Human Institute has collaborated with Animoca Brands and Polygon Labs to launch the Humanity Protocol on Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK), a modular, open source software toolkit for blockchain developers to launch new L2 chains on Ethereum.
Using palm recognition technology, the protocol offers less invasive identity verification than other methods such as iris scans, to establish Proof of Humanity in Web3 applications, and is easily accessible through smartphones.
Integrated into the blockchain, palm recognition ensures ease of use and reinforces Humanity Protocol's mission to provide a seamless experience for those engaging win Web3 applications.
Humanity Protocol, a zkEVM Layer-2 blockchain protocol, was founded by tech entrepreneur Terence Kwok and is guided by a council of Founding Humans including Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, and Sandeep Nailwal, co-founder of Polygon Labs.
Animoca Brands will guide the team on Web3 practices and fostering ecosystem growth whilst Polygon CDK will enhance the scalability and efficiency of the protocol.
The protocol paves the way for a wide array of applications including on-chain games, decentralized social media, enterprise DeFi solutions, real-world assets (RWA), and more.
Animoca Brands' Siu described existing verification technology as "invasive, complex, or burdensome" and that Humanity Protocol is instead "building a user-centric ecosystem that can onboard millions to a verifiable digital identity solution that is truly decentralized and respects the principles of true digital ownership, in the process enabling better equity and inclusion for all participants."
